Sherry Tyra: As the weather warms, there is nothing like an outdoor garden party to celebrate a graduation, a birthday or simply give family and friends a fun filled day in the sun.
Make your party special by sprucing up a casual backyard. Bringing in colorful nature inspired elements into your table setting will set the tone.
Start with the theme. I opted to go with the floral theme in bright colors, but you could choose anything from butterflies to ladybugs or frogs. Begin with the tablecloth or place maps to bring in a punch of color. Dishes in a floral pattern are perfect for bringing in the feeling of the garden.
A large bouquet of fresh flowers is a must. A few butterflies turned an ordinary bouquet into something special. I've created fun napkin rings by using a glue gun to attach these over sized daisies.
These pretty candle holders are so easy to make. Place some rocks in the bottom of a clear vase and add a flower. Fill with water and place a floating candle on top. These adorable place cards were made from small terracotta flower pots, pin wheels and seed packets.
Your guest can take these, home and plant the seeds to remind them of their lovely day in the sun. These brightly colored garden tools make great serving pieces and add a sense of whimsy to your table, and this adorable watering can is perfect for serving beverages.
I have even added some pretty paper parasols to the glasses for a festive touch. Take a walk down the garden aile in your local store. You'll be surprised that the inspiration you'll find.
Let your imagination run wild and you'll be able to create a wonderful outdoor celebration that you're guests will remember for years to come.
