Vodka Drinks - How to Make a Vodka Collins

Ingredients

2 ounces of vodka
2 ounces of sour mix
1 tablespoon of powdered sugar
1 tablespoon of simple syrup
Club soda

Instructions

Place ice in a cup and add vodka and sour mix. For a vodka sling add powdered sugar and for a vodka collins add simple syrup. Shake it, pour it in the cup and then add club soda. Garnish with a lemon.

Hi, I am Josh Dubois. Today, we are making Vodka drinks and right now, I am going to show you how to make a Vodka Sling. While we are making this, we are also going to show you how to make a Vodka Collins because these drinks are very, very similar with the one exception of one of them uses powdered sugar and one of them uses simple syrup which simple syrup is just basically, water and sugar.

So, these drinks are very, very similar. So, first what we are going to do is we are going to take our cup and put ice in it all the way to the top and now this drink, you are going to be mixing and serving the drink in the same cup. So, what you are going to do first is you are going to take two ounces of vodka or a four pour count of vodka, so, you are going to go one, two, three, four. That equals about this much Vodka when you are pouring it into a mixer into a shot glass to measure.

Then, you are going to take two ounces of sour mix. This can be purchased really at pretty much, all grocery stores and most liquor stores have this as well and it comes in these nice containers. So, you are going to put two ounces of sour mix in there, one, two and then, you are going to put one tablespoon of powdered sugar in. This is the step that is different this is the Vodka Sling with the powdered sugar. The Vodka Collins, you will put just the same amount, one tablespoon of simple syrup in there. Now, you are going to shake this and the reason that you shake this now before the next step which is adding club soda is you never ever want to shake any drinks that have carbonated water or any drinks that have cola of any sorts in them because if you shake them it s going to explode and it s going to go allover and you look like an amateur bartender.

So, you want to shake it before, just give it a nice shake, not as much as a martini but a good nice shake and then turn it back over, pop the top off and you fill to the very tip top with club soda. Now, you want to take your spoon, just give it a nice stir because again you don t want to shake and you are going to serve this drink with a straw and you are going to garnish it with a lemon. That is how you make both a Vodka Sling and a Vodka Collins.
