Andy Corno: Hi! My name is Andy Corno with Leaders Lacrosse Camps, Clinics and Private Lessons. I currently play professional lacrosse for the Philadelphia Barrage, and I was a former All-American at Georgetown University. I am here to show you all the basics for the game of Lacrosse.

To get started, you will need a lacrosse stick and your own ball to practice on your own. When you are ready, you also need to purchase your equipment, which consists of a helmet and a mouthpiece, gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads. Before we begin, remember to stretch and hydrate well before you take the field.

Also, practice outdoors and wear a helmet whenever possible. Now, that you ready to learn and play, let's get started, we are going to start with your stick.

First and foremost before you go out and buy a stick, understand that there is a lot of different brands and companies out there. You want to pick one thats right for you. Your local provider will know that, so if you are beginner, ask for a beginner stick. If you are intermediate, ask for an intermediate stick and if you are an advanced player, you can use an advanced stick.

After youve purchased your stick, strong and ready to go, you want to make sure that you work your pocket in and how you can do that is you just take a ball up to the pocket or mesh of the stick and work it in, may be punch it a couple of times just like this. This will help you break in the pocket and soften up the mesh. After youve done that, go out practice throw with a friend to get used to how your stick throws. Every stick is going to throw differently, sticks throw differently on different days, whether its wet out, humid out, raining out, so you want to make sure that you practice, before you go out and play.

Those are the basics to your stick.
