Hi, I am Nick Friedman, founder of College Hunks Hauling Junk, the junk removal specialist, and today, we are talking about organization strategies, as well as safe lifting, and moving techniques. We've already gone through all the techniques for lifting and moving, so now, we are going to talk about some organizing strategies. We are going to start with the disaster zone, thats your garage, one of the biggest culprits as far as collection of clutter and junk. When you come to your garage, and you want to organize it, the most important thing is to stay focused and not become overwhelmed. Its easy to become overwhelmed, its a project that can take days, maybe weeks, to complete. So, you want to start with one section of the garage, and what you want to do is, you want to organize things by type. So, what we recommend is clearing off the shelves that are already cluttered and mixed up. We've already cleared up this top shelf. We are going to take one items at a time from this shelf, in this case, this gas can, we are going to bring it over here to where we already have our pile started, or our sorting has begun. We are going to put the gas with the hazardous material, which may or may not be separated into different piles momentarily. Weve got our sporting goods pile over here, fishing tackle boxes, we got a car charger, miscellaneous stuff, and over here, is our trash pile, which is going to grow to be the biggest pile by the end of the project. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself, have you used this item in the past six months? You plan to use this item in the next six months? If the answer to that question is no, then you better put it in the trash pile. So, then what you want to do, is you want to start allocating these items to a certain section of the garage. So, we are going to go ahead and grab this tennis racquet, and we are going to bring it over here, to where we've already started our sporting goods section. As you can see, we've got our sails all lined up. We put the tennis racquet right there on the shelf, and now as we continue to organize the garage, any sporting equipment that we come across is going to go over here with the tennis racquet, and that way, when we know we want to come play sports, well come to this side of the garage. So, thats a good way to get started organizing. Next, we are going to talk about how to dispose off hazardous material, which is a little bit different than getting rid of regular trash.
