Hi, I am Nick Friedman, founder of College Hunks Hauling Junk, the junk removal specialist, and we are here talking about organizing strategies, and safe lifting techniques. We just went through all the safe lifting techniques as well as how to organize your garage. Now, we are here in the attic talking about another disaster zone, when it comes to clutter and junk collection. The good rule of thumb to remember when you are trying to tackle a project as big as this, is not to get overwhelmed. Take it one section at a time, one day at a time. We started with this shelf over here, we've cleared out all the items, and we've started piles on the ground, according to category. We've got our trash pile, we've got our holiday pile, books, donations, kids stuff, we are going to continue to remove stuff from the shelf, and allocate it to the appropriate pile. The difference between the attic and the garage is that the attic tends to accumulate a lot of clothes, books, and other reusable items that deserve to be donated, as opposed to thrown away. So, its important to check with your local donation center to find out what sort of items theyll accept, and in what condition. Another difference in the attic as to the garage is that, there are sentimental items. They may not have use to you, but you still want to hold on to them for that sentimental value. For example, this football jersey your kid may never wear it again, but if its from his first year, you may want to hold on to it to remember it. So, you start the sentimental pile; put the photographs along with that. Old electronics that dont work or are outdated; you can go ahead and put that in the trash pile. And thats how you get started to organizing your attic. So, those are just some basic tips for getting started with organizing, as well as strategies for safe lifting. We hope you've learned a lot, and remember that junk-free is the way to be, so, have a junk-free day.
