Why should I read the Bible?
Rev. Dr. Rock Schuler: The Bible is a living document that conveys to us the ongoing presence of God in the world. It helps us learn how to see the presences of God in the world and it literally brings to us Gods presences in our life.
Yes, its an interesting historical document. It can be an interesting intellectual exercise to understand its history and alike, but we should read it, because its a living document, because it is full of life and because most importantly it imparts life. When we approach it prayerfully with an open heart, it has the ability to strengthen us in times of need, to enhance our joy in times of celebration, to show us the meaning, and purpose in context of our life that we are destined for our life greater than just roughly existence and that what happens to us in this life is not the end of our life and that our memories cannot constrain our life, but rather we are free to the everything God calls us to be. Most importantly we should read the Bible because it shows us Gods unrelenting love for us, His unrelenting pursuit of us, the dignity with which He created us, and the love in which He holds us.
