Transcripts
Hi, my name is Bill Frishman, owner of BGB Builders here in Haymarket, Virginia. I have been in the building industry for better part of 20 years, doing custom homes, remodeling, additions and light commercial. Building has been in my family for generations. Both my father and grandfather were builders, so its pretty much all I have ever known. My company motto is to build everything as it if it were my own, that way I dont ever ask anybody to accept something that I wouldnt accept in my own house. Today were going to be showing you how to build a closet; from framing the wall, to hanging drywall, to setting the door. First, were going to start with getting acquainted with the tools were going to need, as well as some safety tips. Why dont you come on inside and we will get started.
To me, safety comes down to three things. Number one, you need a well lit area. Number two, a clean area, and number three, a well ventilated area. This will help you avoid such common job side dangers as inhaling dust particles, are the things that would be harmful to you, as well as keeping a clean area will prevent you from tripping over something while youre working.
Lets go through the tools youre going to need. A safety mask will help you avoid inhaling any of the particles that I just talked about. Typical safety goggles will help you avoid any kind of danger to your eyes while youre working. This is a framing square, at four foot level, hammer, a speed square, construction pencil, a hilty gun. Youre also going to need some fasteners during this project. These two fasteners right here go with the hilty gun. They are the nails and the charges. If you dont have a hilty gun, you can just use masonry cut nails into the concrete directly. The last thing youre going to need today is your coated sinker nails, these are the nails that were going to use to attach our framing members together. Were also going to need a circular saw. The last thing were going to need today is our sledgehammer. Lets get started with our project, the next step is going to be laying out our walls.
