Amanda Lukoff: New York City and Las Vegas are the usual favorites for a New Year's Eve celebration. But at Away.
com we have some unique ideas to ring in the New Year.
Each year more than 100,000 people head to Atlanta, Georgia for the largest New Year's Eve party in the South East. The downtown fills with visitors eagerly awaiting fireworks and 800-pound peach to drop at the stroke of midnight. If you like college football check out the week long schedule of events like parades and fan nights leading up to the full game on December 31st. Seattle's EMP Museum is known for music, sci-fi, and pop culture. So it's the perfect place to host the largest New Year's Eve bash in the Emerald City. Three thousand guests fill into the EMP's doors to tour the exhibits, hear live music, see comedy acts and dance to beats spun by live DJs. At midnight watch fireworks above the iconic Space Needle right next door. You may not think to head to Niagara Falls for New Year's Eve, but each year the free party in Niagara attracts 30,000 people to this beautiful setting for food, drinks, and live music. At 12 o'clock a brilliant display of fireworks takes over the skies above the thunderous falls. But bring your passport; this party takes place on the Canadian side. So this year have a blast bringing in the New Year at some alternative destinations.
