Kelly Daily: Hi, I am Kelly, the principal owner and interior designer for the Feather Your Nest. Today, I am helping you to create a designer look for your wall. Once we have selected our items, the next step would be to place them on tracing paper, so you can make a template. That way it s easy to get to the wall and mark the spots where your pictures will go. What I have done is gotten some vellum from a local craft store and taped it together to fit the scale of my project. You can also use other items, tracing paper, brown packaging paper, whatever works to fit the scale for your items, for your wall.
Once, I have placed everything on the tracing paper, you want to go ahead and outline all of your items. You don t have to do this perfectly, just go ahead and make sure and get the general idea of where the items will go, once they are on the wall, then what I would like to do is mark where the nail will go. This of course helps with the template a lot easier than getting to the wall and putting a whole bunch of unnecessary holes in the walls. So, I lift up my piece and I will go ahead and mark where the nail should go. I have also attached plate hangers to the plate that I may be putting on the wall, and mark those spots as well and just continue around until you have all your pieces marked and then you are ready to go. Next, what we are going to do is take our template and put it on the wall.
