Emily: Hi! My name is Emily; we are here at Masters Costumes. We are about to do a cat face demonstration to get the most effect out of your cat costume for Halloween. I am going to begin by showing you how to manipulate the features using makeup only to mimic a cats bone structure. The main difference in a cats bone structure from a persons is they have got the wide muzzle obviously which widens this portion of the face, right below the nose, the cheeks and also the bridge of the nose is going to be wide. Right now we are focusing on the muzzle predominantly and later I am going to show you how to use a prosthetic. Right now we are just going to focus on the makeup. So, we are going to begin with the nose which is a good place to start. I am going to start by using a cream based makeup which is different from a water based makeup that you would see at a fair used on kids. The difference is that it is going to dry with air whereas a cream based makeup is never going to dry, it is like a foundation that you use in day to day makeup and you will have to powder it to set it. The advantage of this makeup is that it will not sweat off and once it is powdered if you touch it, it is not going to rub off and it is not going to get all over costume which is often, if you are a white cat. So, we are going to start with the nose, the cats nose is obviously wider and so we are going to create that by drawing a line right above the nostril and then just following that line underneath. Black is a good base color to use, if you are going to be doing a kind of cute cat or especially like a little kid cat. Sometimes you can use red or pink, it is really good to use, black sometimes can be really scary if you are doing a cute cat I would do pink but for a normal cat like Heather, we are going to do black, we are going to get the most out of that. Now, the next part to create with and the upper lip we are going to give the hair lip first, drawing a line and then coming down to a slight triangle right above the lip and as we get further into the demonstration, we are going to do the full lip lipstick etcetera. Right now, we are just focusing on achieving the shape. You can leave the top of the lip there for now but follow that upper portion beyond the nasal labial fold which is that crease from your nostril to your chin and draw that up. That is very simple basic way to achieve the elongated muzzle of a cat and then of course the whisker holes which go in kind of a straight line, I usually do about three rows. And that you have really great cream pencils out as well here at Masters Costumes, we do carry a variety of colors, which is great if you are into drawings, its nice, using a paintbrush, you can also use the pencil for a little bit more control and you get a very similar effect and that is how we create the cat muzzle using makeup only. Next I am going to show you how to apply a cat nose prosthetic, if you are into a really, really, really effective makeup cosmetic look, then that is a really good direction to go.
