Hello, my name is Nia Cooper. I am a nail artist at the Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa. I have been a licensed nail artist for 11 years. I have been a teacher on the Daily Candy, the Washington Post, the Washington Post express and the Washington Style Section to name a few. Today, I am going to take you through the basic steps for a pedicure.

From soaking the feet to removing the polish, from trimming, filing and shaping the nails, applying cuticle remover, cleaning under the nail, pushing back the cuticle and removing the excess skin from around the cuticle. Then, we are going to remove the calluses, apply the sugar scrub and clean out the nail. To start with the Chip Skip, base coat, polish and top coat. Now, for sanitation purposes you want to have latex glove and you want to make sure your implements and utensils are cleaned and free from germ and bacteria.

Now, today you will need the emery board, white buffer block, callus remover, sugar scrub, cuticle oil, rapid dry spray, antiseptic spray, cuticle remover, nail polish remover, Chip Skip, base and top coat. So, it looks like we are all ready to get set for our pedicure, let s begin.
