Isn't information considered power?

Steven Gaffney: Unfortunately, many people interpret information as power and to make matters worst some people in organizations reward the idea that information is power. Some people hoard the information they don't always share it. So, unfortunately that can happen and often people do think it's happening, but here is what I have found out. When people withhold, in other words, they keep information, they don't share it, everything breaks down, and relationships break down, customer service breaks down, contracts break down because here is the thing. If people don't know about things they can't do anything about it. How often have you thought, if they had just told me I could have done something about it. So, unfortunately some people think information is power and some organizations have a culture around that, but you got to do something about it because it's only going to hurt relationships and hurt the organizations and you need to send the message that information, actually sharing information is what is desirable and preferred and that is what we want everybody to do.
