Christopher Meyers: Hi! This is Christopher Meyers from Christophers Incorporated in Merrifield, Virginia, and in this segment we are going to be spot cleaning liquid specifically wine, red wine from a carpeting.

So, we are going to take some wine and we are actually going to pour it on to our carpet here. That should be enough for the demonstration. And you see its soaked in. Now, that was a probably good demonstration, you see a little bit still setting here. If this carpet had been treated with a fabric protectant that soaking in effect that we just saw would not have been as rapid, that is a good case for applying a fabric protective to a carpet. So, just food for thought.

Now, if you have a red wine spill the best thing to do right away is to grab a clean white absorbent towel and to blot the area immediately. So, we are stimulating that this actually was a spill in our home and we have -- and it took us a minute or so to go and get this towel.

So, basically we are going to come back and we are just going to blot, you see some of the wine transferring, this is again why we use white because we want to see how much transfers into the towel. So, you see there is still some coming up and we keep moving it over as we go to it.

Now, we are going to go to the next level here, just fold that underneath so I see there is still a good bid of wine in there. Look at that, there is still a lot, but the carpet looks pretty clean, but its not, there are still a lot of red wine inside of that. Now, we are going to see here, its a good bit of wine.

I am applying downward pressure with both thumbs and we are still getting wine. So, we are still seeing a transfer. So, you can see it started out a lot, now there is much less, and hopefully, we will get even less this time. So, there is still some transferring, so keep blotting, the more you can get out in this step the better.

Still a little bit coming out, still some coming out, so you want to continue this process until there is no more wine coming out. Its very little now.

Lets see as we go a little bit there, but you can see the rest, we have got most of it here and then just less as it comes through. So, now you can use the other side of the towel and continue, lets make sure we get as much as we can, thats looking pretty good. So, now we can probably, safely go to our second step. Okay, so we blotted all the wine out that we can, thats good.

Now the next thing that we do is we apply a detergent, our detergent cleaner specifically for matched to the quality, style and type of our carpeting, and we just apply to where the spill occurred. Very simple, and now we are going to repeat the blotting procedure. Now, we work from the outside in, so we work from here. I am checking here, I dont know if it will show on the camera, but you could see there is still some wine coming out, this is being released by that detergent. So, there is some, you can see.

You want to continue to blot until your spot is thoroughly dry. When you use all of one side of the towel, use the other side of the towel or get a new towel.

So we have no more transfer it looks like, lets double-check, there is a tiny bit more coming up. Just a tiny bit more, there you go looks good, definitely less than what we had on the first towel versus the second towel.

Now, the procedure was successful. In this case, this is a looped pile carpet and the pile has been pressed down. So, as weve shown in other clips, you want to take the rounded edge of a spoon and go in between the carpet fibers or the carpet pile loops and just press them one way and then the other and then do it in the opposite direction to just lift them from being so pressed down so that they match the field of the carpeting, and thats it, that was a successful wine spot removal.

I think I detect a slight Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The spoon technique did it.
