Hello, this is Natalie Jobity, President of Elan Image Management, and we are talking about the six ways to revamp your image. The first step is using color strategically. Color is really important; color can actually make or break your image. Color has a power to transform, to make you look stunning or to actually make you look tired and sick, if you wear the wrong color. Color actually costs you nothing in terms of, you can buy suiting the right color or the wrong color, it doesnt cost you anymore. So, knowing your optimal colors is key. The colors you actually wear closest to your face are most important, because thats what people actually see and notice in terms of your hair, eye and skin. So, the colors you wear closest to your face are what you want to make sure are your optimal colors.
So, what are your optimal colors, knowing whether you are warm to cool to temperature in terms of your skin, hair and eyes is really important. Here is an easy way to test. I am going to show you using my model Catherine four different color combinations. One color is cool, one color is warm, and test to see whether Catherine is predominantly warm or cool. So that will give us a clue on the kinds of color she needs to work into her wardrobe to make sure her image shines. So, the first color combination I will be doing is black and brown. In terms of color temperature, black is actually cool and brown in warm. So, first Ill show Catherine in black, which is again cooler color, just Catherine in black. As you can see she looks okay, but its a little strong on her, because its the cooler color. Im going to show you Catherine in brown. Brown again is warmer, in brown Catherine actually looks more -- its more in harmony with her skin, hair and eyes, so, blonde hair, her eyes and her skin. So, in this test, the black and brown test, Catherine comes out as warm. We are going to now do ivory and white. Ivory is warm and white is cool. White with Catherine, lets see what happens. Here, we are draping Catherine with white. You can see that the white looks a little stark on her; its a little bit too stark. Lets see what ivory does. So, again white is cool, ivory is going to be warmer, the warmer colors have a yellow undertone, whereas cooler colors usually have a bluer or duller undertone. So, in this case with ivory as you can see, the ivory is more in harmony and soft on Catherine. So, again in this test Catherine is showing that she is more warm temperature. Lets now show another color combination, fuschia and coral or salmon. Fuschia is cool, coral is warm. Here is Catherine in fuschia and as you will see the fuschia is really strong on her. One of the way is to actually tell of a color is right for you is determining, is the color wearing you? In other words, do you see the color first before you see her face? In this case, you are seeing, but your eyes are drawn to the color more than you are on to her face. So thats a clear indication that the color is too strong for her. Lets see Catherine in salmon. Salmon is a warm soft, this is warm soft color. As you can see, this color really enhances her skin, hair and eyes and its really in harmony with her skin tone. So, from these three types, Catherine has been warm in all of the tests. The final test is gold and silver. Now, just to do this pretty quickly, gold is warm, its a warm metal and thats Catherine in gold and silver is a cooler metal. Here is Catherine in silver, and if you can tell that the silver is okay, but the gold pops a little bit more, given her skin, hair and eyes, and because she is blonde hair, gold is a natural fit for her. So, from this task, now that we know that Catherine is warm, it gives you a sense, you can do this test at home. Its the test to see, am I warmer, am I cool. Once you get to know whether you are warm or cool, you know that you want to add to what colors that have more yellow or lighter undertones or warmer undertones. If you are cooler, if you do the test and you are cool, you want to wear colors that have a more blue undertone or darker or black undertones. Its a very subtle difference, but comparing the colors together can help you get a sense of what's cool and what's warm.
