Host: When should I schedule my reception activities?

Christina Taylor: I like actually getting them out of the way because a lot of times what will happen is that people will get into the main room where the reception is taking place and they will be looking for some activity. So a lot of times the way that I recommend a time-line to work for a bride and groom is that they have their introductions done usually by the DJ or the band, introduce the bridal party. They come into the room, then they go right into usually their first dance and that's normally the flow and then after that if there is some food that will be served right away then they can do that and right after the food then I would recommend the toast and the cake cutting. Normally getting it out of the way in the beginning is the best way to go about it because everyone is in a normal state, they haven't have too much alcohol and they can conduct themselves well and then they can get to the partying and the good part of the reception.
