How long should a wedding be?
Wedding planner Christina Taylor discusses how to prepare for your big day, including how long the wedding should be.

Host: How long should a wedding be?
Christina Taylor: Weddings are actually normally mandated by the facility that your having your event at. If you do a wedding where you have your ceremony somewhere else, normally that's anywhere from an hour to an hour-and-a-half is the time frame for the wedding to take place. It can be short as a ten minute wedding, all the way up until an hour of ceremony. So I would say that that would be the first initial part of the planning process. Then the other part is actually usually given to you by the facility you are having your event at. Normally they have a four to five hour block that they will give you for using the space and if you go over that that's also another question that you want to ask them about additional charges. If they tell you that you can have the facility from six to ten if your guests stay until 11 then you need to know that they are going to charge you for that extra hour for the facility and what that charge is going to be? So you want to be very aware of that because that can add some charges to your bill that you might have not recognized in your contract, but you want to be aware of that, the day of the wedding so that you can make sure that everyone leaves at the appropriate time.
