Franklin Taggart: Hi! I am Franklin Taggart. I am going to be showing you how to connect your sound interface to your computer so that you can do your recording at home. We ve been talking about how to setup a home recording studio. This is one of our next to last steps, before you are ready to fire it up and get ready to make some music.

The interface is all ready to go. Basically what I am going to set up first, I am going to go ahead and plug-in the FireWire ports in the back of the interface. I am running two FireWire ports. I am running one to the desktop computer and one to the laptop computer.

The next thing I am going to plug-in is I have a guitar interface that I am going to connect to the line-ins on the back. The last thing that I am going to plug-in is the speakers. The speakers are all ready to go, but I haven t turned them on yet. Make sure that your speakers are not powered on, when you plug them in otherwise you could get too much of a surge and it ll blow your speaker. So, the speakers are now plugged-in.

Finally, this particular interface has a MIDI jack included in it and I am going to plug that in because I have a synthesizer, a guitar synthesizer that I am going to use to send MIDI signals to the computer.

Those are the things that I need to plug-in on the back panel. Now, what I need to do is plug-in a microphone on the front panel and plug that into channel one and then I am going to plug-in a headphone jack into the headphone output.

We re all set. That s all set up and ready to go. I ve plugged-in my control surfaces via USB ports. My particular desktop computer has six different USB ports, so that I can use for different control surfaces and this point I ve got these two set up, the main control and the sample trigger.

So, we re all set to go. We can just turn everything on now and make some music. That s how you connect your computer interface to your computer and to your instruments and we re ready to go, thanks.
