Transcripts

Hi, I am Harry Watters and I have been a professional trombonist for over 20 years. I started off in New Orleans, went out to Vegas and now, I am up here playing in Washington D.

C. We are going to do a series of video clips about playing the trombone. The first is going to be How to assemble the trombone. First, we are going to take the mouthpiece which you can get at any music store although, I prefer the Giddings & Webster model. Then, you are going to take the mouthpiece and connect it to the trombone slide and you are going to do a gentle twist, don t pop it in, just gently put it in. Then, we are going to take the trombone bell and connect it to the trombone slide. Now, most trombone bells have a screw-on mechanism that you are going to gently tighten, not too tight. Then you are ready to roll.

The next segment is going to be about cleaning and lubricating the slide.
