Harry Watters here. We are going to talk about tonguing on the trombone, sounds like fun doesn t it? Well, you are absolutely right. It is fun. What we are going to do is single tongue first. Now, what I want you to do is locate where the roof of your mouth and the top of your teeth meet, that ridge line. Find that inside your mouth right now. Alright, now that you have located it, I want you to go ahead and use the very tip of your tongue to make the following syllable dah! That is the syllable we are going to be using for single tonguing, single tonguing on the trombone. We will get into the multiple tonguing later on. Now, if you use a metronome, you can gradually speed that sucker up to make that single tongue get faster and faster and after a few months, there is not going to be any limit to how fast your tongue can go. It is kind of fun.

On the next segment, we are going to talk about multiple tonguing which includes double tonguing and triple tonguing.
