Nadia Lee: Hi! I am Nadia Lee and I currently work at Affectionate Pet Care and today I am going over some basic grooming, you can do at home. We already went over the items you needs for basic grooming. We have taken care of nails and ears. Now, we are going to very important part of this portion, which is brushing your dog thoroughly.

Most owners don t know, that you have to brush the dog before the bath as well as after the bath and we don t want to just brush the dog only on the top because it get the undercoat, without brushing the undercoat, they can get severe tangles, which is known as knots. Okay we have Squeeter(ph) here, who is going to demonstrate for all of us, how brushing is done the proper way and what you want to do is you want lift up the hair from the bottom. We are going to always brush from bottom up, not top to bottom. We are just going to brush him lightly. We are just going to continue to go up and let couple of hair fall down as move your hand or your finger. We are just going to continue to brush upwards, and don t forget to brush the back where most owners forget, and under the tummy area. This way it prevents any tangles or knotting. Okay, and now what we are going to do now, is have a comb here and you can see there is wide part of tooth and short part of the tooth, and you kind of want to use the shorter part of tooth, just to make sure all the tangles are out and just as before with the slicker brush, we are just going to go from bottom to top, not top to bottom we don t that, okay. If you are having a little struggle with combing the dog, then you know, he has some tangles that needs to be brushed out. Anyway, here has some tangles, and we want to brush that out. We want to make sure that comb goes through the fur smoothly, just like this.

We don t any tugging or hard -- just like this. We are just going to continue to go from bottom to top and you are not done with brushing until your comb can thoroughly go all the way from top to bottom. Okay and we want to make sure, we get, also behind the ears where most dogs get matted on the neck, tummy area, tail, back, and of course the legs. You don t really have to focus on top, the top is normally okay, but the other parts that I mentioned, you will need to brush it out. Okay, so now since we have done thoroughly brushing, it s good over here, we are going to move on to the bathing portion.
