The Wong People Kung Fu Association is a group dedicated to the practice and maintaining the integrity of Kung Fu. The Wong People are a succession of a Kung Fu lineage based on the Jow Ga Kung Fu style. The head teacher for this group is Raymond Wong.

Raymond Wong has been studying Jow Ga Kung Fu since he was a young teen and is still studying the same style in hopes to achieve mastery one day. The Wong People are a widely known entity in the US Kung Fu community. The Wong People are advocators of keeping government and commercialization away from Kung Fu. The Wong People's position on Kung Fu is not based entertainment or sports, but education. Kung Fu education is a lifetime study as well as a life style. Punches are performed from the horse stance the feet are usually almost twice shoulder width apart and the knees are positioned 90-degrees (like square box) while the hands are held at the first ribcage.

Indaba: Hello! My name is Indaba; I am an instructor at the Wong Studio here in Washington DC. This phase, section, is basic blocks and basic punching.

First we are starting from the Horse Stance. Feet are together, and it goes into safety mark, one, two, three, half, and horse stance.

From that position, he is going to take, he is going to punch forward with the right-hand and then with the left. He is going to strike and strike. If you noticed as soon as he strikes, the hands come out right in front of the nose. First, right arm strikes and hold, right in front of the nose area, elbows are not locked, shoulder level, and when he retracts it, the other hand comes right back, comes out, again, he retracts right back to first rib cage, other hand comes back to the front of the nose.

Again, elbows are not locked out, slightly bent, comes right back. And then when he does it full, he goes one, two, strike one, two, and again, one, two.

Again, this drill should be done for at least anywhere from 30-60 seconds and we do not recommend that you learn Kung Fu from a video, to prevent injuries. We highly recommend that you learn Kung Fu from a qualified Kung Fu instructor.

The next what we will do is, take the motion of punching in motion. This time, it will be a punching from a motion standpoint, that was very static, that was still striking, right in front.

Next what he will do is turn, and he will half step and turn and strike. Half step, turn and punch. This punch right here again, its in front of the nose, shoulder level; elbows are not locked, slightly bent. This allows the practitioner to focus his energy as to where he is turning, and where he is punching.

Right back, he is going to be doing to the other side. Again, the punch in front of the nose, elbows slightly bent, levelled at shoulder level, and the opposite hand is pulled right back to the first rib cage, back is straight, in a perfect bowand-arrow strike.

Comes right back and he will do this from each side five times, strike back, strike back, one, and you want to do this for at least 30-60 seconds.

Again, this gets the student into focusing, punching while in motion.

Now, the next thing is Blocking. Blocking is also done from the horse stance position.

Feet are together; go into safety mark, doing half down, horse stance position, ninety degrees. First right-hand comes out to block. If you noticed, hand came from the center and to block out. Left-hand comes out, if you noticed, is that come towards the center, comes in and block. The right-hand comes in, again, blocks it out, just to divert the power and the force to the outer side. It is not to prevent the person from hitting, it is just to divert the energy from making full contact, and he is going to do that for five times, and you want to make sure you go, you do this drill anywhere from 30 seconds to one minute.
