Christina Crawford: Hi, I am Christina Crawford, I am Stamping Up! Demonstrator I love to wrap. I am going to show you some different ways that you can wrap and enjoy that. Sometimes you have a piece of wrapping paper that looks like its kind of be the right size for your big box, but its not and then you don t really have much else, so you have to work with it and maybe this has happened to you when you wrap a present and then you have some empty space on the side and so let me show you just as a little idea, it s just little bit of patch work, it s what I do when that happens and I have seen other people doing too but I want to share that.
First we re going to go ahead and wrap as much of the present as you can and this barely fits but good enough. I love to just turn a little bit of that paper down, usually when you have plenty to work with and it gives it a really nice border there and then it wont wrap your paper, but in a case where you are running out of paper and you running out at a time you have to wrap a present and don t worry about that too much, just use a little extra tape.
So, hold that together and then take at least one piece of tape, I love it when things match up but these polka dots don t, but guess what that s okay and just put a larger piece of tape down on one half of the box, you can let go of it now and then do the other. So, when you kind of short on paper, you might need a little bit more tape, so hope you have tape around when you are short on paper. You can see that if you fold this box and it s really not going to be enough and you are going to have a little bit of a brown piece showing, well what I would recommend is just patch one side, don t patch both of them. Most likely the person that you are giving the present to isn t even going to notice, they are not going to looking like checking it out saying Oh! Heavens, you really messed up here.
So, if you could slide the present over to one side and you have enough and you don t on the other then I would recommend doing that and it looks like that we can in this situation. So, just like a regular present this side is going to get the perks of having enough and the other side is going to be the one we will have to patch.
Now, my patch both sides ready. Again, if it s barely closing don t worry about folding it over, you just might need a little bit more tape. So, get your tape ready and then push it right down on there, use another piece. On a regular gift wrap when you have plenty -- we only use about three pieces, one at the back, one on each side, already this is my forth piece which you got to do, which you got to do. So, and here you can see it s excessively short and what are you going to do? Well, bring in it as in much as you can. A lot of time I would say tape it on the box but if the box is special and itself, you don t want to tape on the box because am I pull off and rip the box. Usually you have another piece left over, if not you can just get another piece of paper in this case and just measure it and then just cut it, let see we need , we need to have that much, this is how I am going to measure it.
So, we are doing couple of things here, you might have another idea and another way of doing this at home, but what I am doing is just something that I usually do, it saves me time, it s a lot of short-cuts here. This is a lot of short-cuts and I am folding it underneath just kind of tucking it under and pinching it on this side, so you get a nice right angle, you want to make it as crisp as possible and then once you have that pretty much set in, it s time to take the tape out again. So, I am going to fixed that in there and just wrap this part over. If you are working with a pattern like polka dots, you are so lucky because it doesn t matter, its so whimsy, its all going to fit together. If you working with something like strips, you might be in a little trouble there because you might have this pattern going one way and on the sides its going another way, but you know what its all about wrapping the present and of courses presentation means a lot, but it is wrapping paper. So, this is how I go ahead and patch up. Sometimes at Christmas times I know friends of mine have big presents they go to thesaurus and they get these big jumbo presents for their children and then they have a standard roll of wrapping paper and they wrap it around this way, wrap it around this way and they were using so much paper that way.
Then when it comes time for some presents you don t have enough. So, why I am talking I am really being a doctor here, a wrapping paper doctor and I am just patching it up and I am taping it down. So, one side looks okay normal and when you give it to your friend you might bothering want to handed towards this way, this way not so attractive, but guess what it hides the box. Then of course when you use a ribbon, that is even another distraction its kind of nice of course a lot people like to use ribbon and bows for birthday party wrapping and for holiday wrapping, any occasion, wrapping bows and ribbon are just such a great finishing touch, oh, that just slide down, it did. But don t get frustrated, sometimes it s easy to get frustrated when you are wrapping and things don t match and you don t have enough. Go ahead and just tie that, really your presentation on this package is really going to be appreciated, trust me. Even if they see that the side is patched -- your friends sees that the side is patch I don t thing that in a couple of month from now she is going to say me, remember that present you gave me it was patched on the side. So, sometimes we tend to just get a little bit more stressed about that unnecessary and look how pretty this looks with the bow on it. So pretty, such a pretty package and you had enough paper to do with and so this is just one way of patching up a big box, when you don t have enough wrapping for it. Thanks a lot, happy wrapping, enjoy your time giving gifts and make it special, thanks.
