Host: How do I identify perceptual blindspots?
Will Maney: I think the best way to identify that and one of the techniques that we worked with managers is, repetitive themes, that is right you, isn t it? Is that, repetitive themes are always up for review, now it s the repetitive good themes, that we want more in our life. It s the ones that sting like the bee that we do not want, so if you simply begin to look at this as you have not been here before, at some point you get to the place where you say I know where this is headed. The amazing thing is this that when you have that moment of inside where you say, I know where this is going and I really shouldn t say and then you immediately say. Then you have got the internal dialogue, What the hell were you just thinking? So, you have got this whole pic. So, repetitive themes are just here to get your attention, they are up for review, now. One of the things that we looked at was, most people are familiar with -- they are not in this serenity prayer. The first verse of that is something like; grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change. Then it goes on, and the power to change the things that I made, that I might or that I should and then perhaps the wisdom of the knowledge to know the difference.
Well, you memorize that and it becomes real memory, but look at that first one, grant me the serenity, so thank you, show me how to be serene in this moment with these things that I can not control. What is it that I can not control? Well in the model, that reusing only is all the way I have to keep this contained is, I have no control over the packages that are being delivered right now, why? Well, when were those packages ordered? In the past, they are ordered, past tense, its going to get delivered buddy, the package is going to get delivered.
So, the goal is I mean to say, I have seen enough for that, okay. Well, we have truck load of them, sorry, do we send them off to some other countries, okay. That is sort of what we do collectively; we send them off to other countries. So, allow me to be in this moment, we think of grace as a virtue lets say, as an ancient muse. Grace says, I allow all the pass without comment, allow me to be certain enough, allow me to be serene in this moment because I can not change what is about to happen. Therefore, in this moment, let me review it, let me witness it, let me not judge it and let me be really aware of the fact that the thoughts that are hold right now, will set into the motion, the package is coming in the future.
Where as the good news, I can begin to construct the future that I really want to be in if I am in a state of angst, it s usually because I am currently in the midst of packages and I really will like to blame somebody else. So, that s to take on that one.
