Host: Do colleges care about race, ethnicity, geography, gender and other physical characteristics when admitting students?

Jerome Cole: They are taken under consideration. Certainly, colleges on that base making decisions solely based on those factors, but they do take them under consideration. What you will hear when you talk to colleges and when you go visit, is you will hear them talking about trying to find the right fit for their particular school. You will hear them talk about trying to create a class that looks a certain way, a class that is diverse.

So, things like geography, things like race and ethnicity, gender, all those things come into play. Are they big factors? I would say, no, they are not big factors, but they are things that colleges take under consideration when they are admitting students.
