Host: Do colleges give extra consideration to students who have earned special recognition for academic achievement?

Jerome Cole: Every application, every college application that I have ever looked at as those types of questions, please list your honors, your awards, they want to know that. I think it s important, I think that they do in fact take those under consideration and I think that, how much they play, I think they are important because they demonstrate your ability how long you have perform in different areas.

But I don t think they are critical, I think again what is critical is the academic performance, the outside interest and your essays, and your recommendations, but I think they are important and certainly the fact that every application asked you to list, your honors, your awards, means that it s been taken under consideration and it does count.
