Host: How many colleges should a student visit?
Jerome Cole: A lot of that s going to depend on location. Here, in the Washington D.
C. area where I am based, we have a lot of colleges in the city and immediately outside of this city. So, our students have the advantage of being able to visit a lot of schools right here, just we finish a short drive away. If you are in a more isolated area where you don t have the same access, you are probably, going to have to do a little bit more visiting, you are probably going to have to do a little bit more traveling.
I think that there is no magic number. It is going to be based on your schedule, your family schedule, it is going to be obviously, based on financial resources. It is going to be based on a lot of things. Again, I want to emphasize when we are talking about visiting colleges, it is always a good idea to start local and then branch out ,the idea being, trying to save wear and tear or mom and dad trying to save a little money in the pocket book. Visit the local schools, get familiar with colleges, get familiar with the process of visiting colleges, make up your list and then start to travel.
