Host: What is a loaded fund?
David Morotta: Mutual funds that carry a sales charge are called loaded funds. The brokers who sell these funds make their money off of the sales charge and there are three different ways they can get a sales charge. One is called A shares, one is called B shares and one is called C shares. So, one way to know that you have a loaded or sales charge mutual funds is it often has an A, B or C after it.
