Host: How has resume writing changed in the last 10 years?

Louise Kursmark: It used to be that a resume was a summary of where you have been. It might have included your job titles of course, your education, your experience to some degree. A resume didn't have to be a dynamic document that now we consider it to be a marking document. There has to be so much more to a resume than just where you have been. The reason for that has to do with the fact that careers have changed and jobs have changed. It used to be more than 10 years ago but 20 or 30 years ago, that people would join a job out of college, join a company and they would stay with that company for their entire career. They didn t really have to write a resume or if they did, it used to go from one company to another company, maybe once or twice throughout their working life. But now, people have much shorter job tenure and much shorter tenure with a company. They always need to be thinking about where am I going with my career. It has really changed from job search to career management and it needs to be a lifelong process, for the resume have evolved and changed in response to the changes in the world of work.
