Host: If I am too specific in my resume, will I shut myself out of opportunities?

Louise Kursmark: Yeah, a lot of people are concerned that if they get too specific with their focus in their resume, they are not going to be considered for more than one opportunity. They use the phrase, I want to leave myself open. I want to be available for what's out there in the market. The problem with that is if you leave yourself open for what's out there, probably, nothing is going to be out there because no one is looking for a generalized person. They are looking for someone with a specific skill set. So, I recommend that you determine your focus, if you decide you want to pursue a different position, that's okay. You can create a different resume or you can include both concepts in the resume if they are related, but do have a specific focus because employers are looking for individuals with specific skills. You have got to show that you have those skills in your resume.
