Host: Is there a way for me to become a trusted leader through how I negotiate?

Sean McArdle: Absolutely, overtime not overnight, we form opinions by people based on their performance. So, as you negotiate, keep in mind that all negotiations should be Win-Win, that the ultimately goal is for your company to get what it requires to become what it has stated in their objectives or their strategic plan. Then always negotiate to that shared value in your company. Overtime, people come to trust in you, overtime people come to believe in you.

It s an interesting thing, but if I mention two business people, Bill Gates and Donald Trump, who do you think was the more trusted person to negotiate with? Now, I am going to tell you much as we might love to be entertained by Donald, a lot of people might think he would be more trustworthy than Bill Gates.

Truth is they are both good negotiators, truth is they both accomplish to great deal with their life and the truth is that there are a lot of people in business who think Donald Trump is a great guy to do business with, but the only ones who know are the people who have actually done it.

So, we build reputation overtime, not overnight and we do it by using ethical negotiating tactics, so that people come to believe that we have the values of our company and our people and our community in mind.
