Hello, once again I am Dr. Kelly with Kelly Dentistry and we have been talking about maintaining good oral hygiene. Now, we will talk about floss. We have different types of flosses here. We have one thats a dental tape, and we have another one thats actually specifically wax floss, there is also unwaxed floss. I prefer the wax floss because its not likely to shred as easily. Then we have floss with a handle. Now, I prefer the regular floss to the floss with the handle. This is more for people who have problems with putting floss between their finger, wrapping around their fingers, and its also good for kids and when they have a hard time flossing their teeth with regular floss.

Now, dental tape is better than dental floss for people who have teeth that are closer together, so thats why you have these different options.

Then another option for you is for people who have bridges, they would need something like this, its called a floss threader, and what you do is you place the floss through this floss threader, just like that, and then you feed this under the bridge and carry it through the bridge. These are good ways to help prevent bacteria from accumulating in your mouth and in your gums, and it also helps with removing food from your gums and between your teeth. But, good home care is definitely a key, and its definitely one of those things that helps maintain good oral hygiene. We talked about toothbrushes, you want to make sure that you brush your teeth twice a day. We talked about flosses, and you want to make sure your floss once a day. We have also talked about mouth rinses, and those you want to make sure you at least rinse once a day. Now, that we have talked about these things, we will go on to talk about dietary habits.
