Dr. Isabel Kelly: Hello, I am Dr. Kelly with Kelly Dentistry once again and we are here to demonstrate how to brush your teeth properly.

I am going to put this toothbrush and this is a youth size toothbrush I am going to put this against this childs teeth and we are going to do it at 45 degree angle. We are going to do in a circular motion and then we are going to do a nice sweep away from the gums, to get the debris out and thats the way we are going to work on the front of the teeth. On the surface of teeth, the biting surface of the teeth, we are going to do more of a sweeping motion around and then with the back of teeth, we will change the way we brush the teeth and the angle and you will see as we demonstrate. So, here we go. I want you to bring your head this way thank you alright. Then go ahead and put the toothbrush at an angle, 45 degree angle to go in a circular motion on this side of teeth and then sweep motion, sweep the debris out. You want to do this gently, make sure you do it gently sweep. The other side here, circular motion and then sweep out, away from the gums. Then you do more of a back and forth motion or may be a sweeping motion on the biting surface of the teeth. So, this is a back and forth motion sweeping motion.

Then you change the angle of your toothbrush, change the direction of your toothbrush for the back of the teeth and you do in a circular motion as best as you can.

Now, we switch to the lower teeth. We again do that at a 45 degree angle, but also again toward the gums, so it is going to be in a different direction and we do circular motion and sweep away from the gums. Go to another side of teeth, circular motion and then sweep away from the gums. Here again and then we are again go to biting surface and do more of a back and forth motion. At the back of the teeth, change the direction of the toothbrush and do another circular motion and you do this again for two minutes by the clock. After you are done, you take your cup with water and you go ahead and rinse out.
