I am Mauro Farinelli with the Denim Bar teaching you how to find the perfect pair of jeans and we are now going to discuss the wash and maintenance of your premium denim. Remember, that cotton is a natural fiber; it stretches and shrinks accordingly to water temperature and wear. It s a natural fiber, sort of like a muscle, so if you stretch your muscles all the time, they elongate and stretch out. So, it s cotton.
It also retracts just like a muscle that s why when you wear your jeans for a really long time, eventually, they start stretching out, you throw them in the dryer, they start shrinking back up. You try them on in ten minutes, they stretch back out. If you are wearing dry denim, just wear your denim. Let the characteristics of your body movement, the dirt on the ground, the grime, you just wear them and wear them until they basically can t stand up and then throw them in the wash, on a cold wash, you could put them in the dryer or line dry them, put them back on and then let them stretch out to your body. In doing this, you will gain the whiskering, the abrasions, the grinding naturally. If you are trying to treat a hard washed jean, you want to; (A) follow the care instructions on the inside of the label or (B) always cold wash your jeans. You can do a mild tumble dry or a line dry.
If your jeans are too tight and you want to stretch them out, spray the waistband around with some water, give it a good stretch, put your jeans on and you are good to go. That s basically, the only instructions you really need to know about caring for your jean. If however, you have sequence, painting any kind of embellishment on the jeans you might want to dry-clean them, just so you don t throw your clothes, lump them all together, have a couple of quarters in your pocket, airing the washing machine, the grinding against the sequence and the sequence fall off.
You are going to pay premium price, treat it like a premium product.
