Host: What special concerns are there when training boys?

Rene Hackney: Following this method, it is also suggests that if you are teaching a little boy, how to potty train, you have them sit for both poop and pee, first and then a few weeks later, once they are comfortable and they got the hang of both, then teach them to stand for pee. On what happens a lot of times is, little boy if they are standing for pee, but having to sit for poop, they say, I am not going to poop in there, that just takes too long and then you get a child who is peeing in the potty, but just not pooping in the potty.

So if you start with them sitting first for both, it is also suggested that if you have got the deflector shield for little boys on the front of the potty that you take that deflector shield off first, let them sit down and then put the deflector shield back on. There is lots of little boys who go running into the bathroom and try to sit down so fast and they get hurt on that deflector shield and then they are not going to potty train any more.
