Host: What are the benefits of attending a preschool s open house?

Rene Hackney: The open house gives you a real sense. While the NAEYC accreditation looks at parent teacher child language, going through and actually listening yourself is a whole different ball game. You can get a sense for how the teachers are; you can see how the teachers are dressed, how they present themselves. You can also get a look at what the supplies are in the classroom, how many toys are available. If you think those toys or those activities would interest your child, you can get a good look for how they maintain their space and how orderly things are. So, it can give you a real good sense just going in and seeing first hand.
