Host: What is extended learning?
Rene Hackney: Extended learning is taking what you read about in a book and then of using it in real life or extending it in some way to your days. So, let us say you have read the book Blueberries For Sal , you might then make blueberry muffins together or you might go get a teddy bear and have a teddy bear pick based on the bears in the book. Anything the Mouse Paint Book where it is all about mixing colors, you might then go to a paint mixing project or a construction paper project where you are mixing colors like they were in the book. It allows children to learn more in depth about what they just read and that makes reading much more interesting.
