Host: What is the seventh attitude of dating?
Gloria MacDonald: Attitude number seven is acceptance. It is really being able to accept love in anyway it comes into your life and being able to see yourself as loving, lovable and loved. So, if a total stranger on a blind date buys you a cup of coffee, really take the time to accept that, even though a cup of coffee does not cost a lot of money. Take the time to accept that as a form of love and appreciation. Maybe the person is not madly in love with you, but it is a form of respect in you and appreciating you as a human being.
So, you really love is a full on give and take sport. You can not be able to give love and not accept love and you can not be able to accept love and not give love. But so many of us feel like we can give love and not accept it. So, when someone gives you a compliment on a new jacket or something, you do not say, Oh, it is nothing. I just it cost me $15. Accept the compliment.
Start practicing accepting love and all the tiny ways it is given to you in your life and love is not just all about romance. It is about people appreciating respecting one another. So, start seeing all the ways in which total strangers, family members, coworkers respect you, appreciate you and start accepting that love in your life and then you will be able to see it more and more and you will have the fruition of that acceptance in a wonderful relationship that is just right for you.
