Host: How could a man make a good first impression?

Gloria MacDonald: If a man dresses nicely, he can make an incredibly good first impression. There was a fascinating study that was done where Psychologists took ten different men and they dressed each of these ten men in three different ways and they took pictures of them dressed in each of three different ways. So, they dressed the man in a dark suit, a crisp white shirt, a red tie and a Rolex watch and took pictures of all ten men dressed that way. Then, they dressed the men in casual business attire and open collared extra cloth shirt, navy blue blazer and khaki pants and they took pictures of all ten men dressed that way and then they took the same ten men and dressed them in the uniform of a recognized hamburger chain and took pictures of them.

Then they showed these pictures of various men dressed in different ways to different women and it didn t matter which man the women always picked as the most attractive man, the man dressed in the business suit with the white crisp shirt, the red tie and the Rolex watch. This just proves the point that women can t help it. Subconsciously, they are looking for a man who can provide. Who can provide for them and take care of them and their children. Again, it doesn t matter how old the woman is, it doesn t matter if she is 23, 43, 63, it doesn t matter if she is looking to have children or not. This is thousands of years of evolutionary psychology and programming that s gone on that women are unaware of, they are looking for that man who can provide for them.

It doesn t matter if the woman has millions and millions of dollars. The more money the woman makes, the more money she wants the man to make. So, it s not rational, but it s just the way it works. They did the same experiment and dressed women, took ten women and dressed them in a feminine, but very professional business suit, dressed these ten women in a more casual business attire and dressed the ten women in the uniform of the recognized hamburger chain and then they showed pictures of those various women to men and it didn t matter what the woman was wearing, the men always chose the woman who was the most youthful, the most beautiful, the most attractive.

So, men and women look at things very, very differently and women are looking for a man who shows them in some way, shape or form that they are capable of providing status, physical provision in terms of shelter, food, clothing and that the man is healthy.
