Hi, this is Dr. Courtney Herbert from Fleur-de-lis dermatology. Today, we are talking about how to fix problem skin. First, we are going to talk about how to cleanse your skin. Our model today, to my right Czarina has oily skin and there are certain products that work better if you have oily skin, when you are washing as compared to when you have dry skin.

Today, I have brought a few samples of what you can use for dry skin, one is Vanicream. Again, there are lots of options out there for different of different products to use for dry skin. The Vanicream itself is a very mild soap with no additives that s very good in the winter month and keeps you from flaking and drying if you are going to wash your face up to twice a day.

Another option is CeraVe and CeraVe is also very mild, it does not lather. However, it is very good for dry skin in the winter months and it s very similar to another product called Cetaphil which is available at any drugstore and works quite well when your skin is very dry. When your skin is oily as Czarina s is, options include scrubs with salicylic acid and there are various ones available at various drugstores such as Neutrogena, Oil of Olay, Clean & Clear, anyone of those products is good. The key thing to remember though is that if you have oily skin washing more than twice a day is not going to help your skin. It s going to dry it out. Therefore, using this afore mentioned washes is good up to twice a day, even if you have oily skin.

If you have combination skin where you have parts of your skin say on Czarina perhaps, in this nose area she maybe oily, forehead, she maybe dry, you are going to want to use a dry skin product. Some of those I mentioned earlier, Cetaphil, CeraVe, Vanicream are very good products. If you are using something harsh on a combination skin you are going to end up with very flaky parts.

That is how we cleanse our skin. Next, we are going to discuss what to do if you have problem skin and a pimple occurs.
