Hi, this is Dr. Courtney Herbert from FDL Dermatology. We are talking about how to fix problem skin. We have talked about cleansing skin, we have talked about what to do if you have a breakout, actually, how to deal with a painful pimple. Now, we are going to talk about moisturizing your skin. In the prior clip with cleansing the skin, we talked about morning and evening taking care of your skin and also if you are dry or oily. Our model here today, she is very oily. So, she should be washing her face optimally, twice a day. She exercises especially, twice a day is recommended, if only once a day, that s okay. For moisturizers, there are plenty of things out in the market that can be overwhelming for a general consumer. In the morning the best thing you want to pick is something with a sunscreen in it. There are a lot of products out there and we have several today that I recommend, beginning with the mildest which is Cetaphil. Cetaphil and CeraVe, both are very mild and very good for dry skin. After you have washed in the morning and patted dry your face, Cetaphil can be applied gently to the area and a small film placed all over your entire face and then makeup can be applied after. Another option is Aveeno or Olay. Both of these products have an SPF of 30 to 45 which is recommended all year around. In someone such as Zarina, where she has oily skin, these products are noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic, meaning they will not clog her pores throughout the day and provide her with sun protection. Therefore, these two products again, are very good as morning moisturizers for oily skin. As mentioned before, dry skin, Cetaphil is very good as well as CeraVe. In the evening time, after the day, if you have been exercising or if have a job where you get a lot of sun exposure, you are going to want to moisturize with something that gives you a little extra protection. Again, there are a lot of products out there and we are going to use Zarina as an example of very oily skin. So, let s start first with the Nia products which they are an intense recovery products from the day and what Zarina would do is apply a small amount to her face, small film and then go ahead and go to sleep. This can be done after you wash and remove your makeup. Another option is the Kinerase line which is very rich night therapy and it also would help with oily skin because it wouldn t clog your pores but provide with you a moisturization that you need throughout the day. There is a lot of talk about antioxidants and things such as coffee berry or Revolay skin is another product that is very good to moisturize in the evening. It has coffee berry which is a very good antioxidant and works quite well while you are sleeping at night. Finally, TNS recovery complex, if you are an older person, maybe over 35 and are noticing fine lines and wrinkles, this again is a very good night moisturizer and can be used with Zarina s skin type of oily skin. So, that s how to moisturize your skin, both in the morning and night and it helps to remember what kind of skin type you have so that you are not making your oily skin worse or making your dry skin a lot worse.
