Transcripts
Hi, this is Dr. Herbert from Fleur-de-Lis dermatology. We are talking about how to fix problem skin. We have discussed cleansing your skin, we have discussed how to handle breakouts and pop pimples and finally, moisturize. Now, we are going to discuss skin in different temperate zones of the country. What to do when you are in an area where there's lots of sun, such as California or Arizona or what to do when you live somewhere like New York or far up north, as Maine. So, everyday, as we have discussed a sunscreen in the morning is the best thing to do and there are several products out there that range from SPF 15 to almost SPF 80. We have some samples today of what you should wear, again, depending on where you live and how much sun there is in your environment. So, today, the first one that s very good is the La Roche-Posay SPF 15. It does quite well, it's water resistant as well as hypoallergenic and won t clog your pores which is important when you have problem skin. Now, this is great wherever you live. It has got a basic sunscreen, it's good in the winter month and it's also good in the summer months if we apply it quite frequently. However, in the summer months you may want to go to a higher sunscreen protection or wherever you if you live in California, maybe you are around, you want to think about doing something such as Olay 30 or you can go with high as Aveeno 55. These products need to be reapplied every 15 minutes and again, as I mentioned before, are very good for problem skin. In Zarina s skin type, even though she has olive complected skin she needs to wear a sunscreen no matter what part of the country she lives. Whether it's somewhere where there is a lot of sun or no sun, she still is going to have risk of getting sunburn or sun damage without a sunscreen in place. If you look on Zarina s skin, as we talked earlier, she has several pimples and wearing a sunscreen will also help keep the pimples from forming into scars because the suntan or sunburn although, it may look really good, can lead to dark spots becoming darker.
So, I hope that helped you understand a little bit better on how -- what to do with your skin depending on where you live. I hope that you enjoyed the clip on how to fix problem skin, beginning with cleansing and then going all the way through what to do if you have a breakout, how to manipulate a pimple, moisturize and finally, what sunscreens are best for you in your environment. Thank you.
