Hi my name is Katie Jackson and I'm here at Studio Bleu Dance center in Ashburn, Virginia. Today, I'm going to show you how to tap dance. We are going to start with a Riff, then onto a Toe Cramp Roll, a Double Cramp Roll, a Pull Back, a Syncopated Pull Back, a Running Man Tap Step, a Shiggy Bops and then last the Shuffle Toe Heal Turn.

When starting to tap the things that you ll need to begin your tap career, would be a pair of tap shoes, you can start off wearing something like what I have on today or sweat pants or shorts. Now, onto the safety precautions, when you tap, the best place to tap is in a room like we have here with the Marlee flooring. The Marlee flooring doesn't allow you to slip, it provides a little bit attraction with your shoes. I wouldn't try tapping in your kitchen, on your kitchen floor, any hardwood flooring. It can be very slippery and can become very dangerous.

Now, that we have covered all the safety issues. Now I'll tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Katie Jackson and I'm a teacher here at Studio Bleu Dance center in Ashburn, Virginia. We also have a studio in Sterling, Virginia as well. I have been teaching for the past seven years, I started teaching kids as young as 18 months and teach all the way up to adults. I can teach anything from ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical tone, musical theatre and a little bit of hip hop. So, if you would like to continue with me I will teach you today, how to learn, how to tap dance.
