Host: When a couple I know announces their engagement do I need to send a gift?

Nancy Mitchell: Engagement gifts are not required gifts. The exception to that rule is that if you know the engage couple very, very well or if you are close family member you may want to send a engagement present don t feel obligated to do that.

When you hear the happy news about the couple you can send a card just say congratulation! Heard your wonderful news I am so, happy for you. Do not feel obligated to send the gift for an engagement
