Hi I'm Lawrence, I was born in Virginia in 1961. Since I was 8 years old I wanted to be an entertianer. But instead I joined the AIR Force in the 80's. I was stationed in England, that is were I started to learn the art of magic. I say "started to learn", is that I am still learning. With magic you are always learning. I think that is why I love performing so much, I'm being challenged everyday. I perform in many different venues, like private parties, corperate events, concerts and restaurants. I am a member of The Society of American Magicians and a member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood CA.

Hi, I am Lawrence Cummings and I am a professional magician with Magic Up Close. Today, I am going to show you how to do some simple magic tricks. This one is called the Blushing Jack, what I have here is, I have one, two, three, four cards. They just have to be the four jacks, the jack of hearts, you can do a trick, what is that you can do? Roll over jack, roll over, one, two, three, four, roll over again jack, roll over, one, two, three, four. Now, when jack of hearts does this trick, he gets really embarrassed, he gets so embarrassed, he turns red. Now, here is the explanation, the move is actually -- what you need is four cards, jacks, three jacks from a blue deck and one jack from a red deck.

I used all the red jacks, so it does not look out of place. I put the jack, the red jack, the third one down. This is what is called a Nounsley counts, what that means, you are going to count four cards as four cards, that is pretty much the explanation for that one. You are going to pull off one card, count as one, take now what you are going to do, you are going to push the next two cards, which is the red cards underneath the blue card, you are going to push it off as one card and say two. At the same time, you are going to push that first card you counted back to your left hand. You are going to go three, four. Again, do one more time, the red jack is on the third one down, you are going to go, one, push two cards off as one, two, three, four.

You are going to do one more time to reveal them back, so the trick is one, two, three, four, turn them over. Show the four jacks, the jack there went down like this, sorry, third one down like this, to make them disappear. One, two, three, four, to show that I will show it to you again, jack is the third one down, pull one card off, push two cards off which is the jack, do not let them see that. Two, three, four, that is to reveal them again, one, two, three, four and of course when you are done, you say the jack is embarrassed, he has turned to red when he is embarrassed.

So, recap, the red card is on the bottom, the audience does not know which is red, so you are going to go one, two, these two cards as one card, two, three, four. Turn them over, show the four jacks, put the jack, the third one back down and again, push of one, two, those two cards, three, four. That is the Blushing Jack, the next trick I am going to show you, is The Four Coin Mystery.
