Hi I'm Lawrence, I was born in Virginia in 1961. Since I was 8 years old I wanted to be an entertianer. But instead I joined the AIR Force in the 80's. I was stationed in England, that is were I started to learn the art of magic. I say "started to learn", is that I am still learning. With magic you are always learning. I think that is why I love performing so much, I'm being challenged everyday. I perform in many different venues, like private parties, corperate events, concerts and restaurants. I am a member of The Society of American Magicians and a member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood CA.

Lawrence Cummings: Hi, I am Lawrence Cummings and I am a professional magician with Magic Up Close. Today I am going to teach you how to do some simple magic tricks. This one is called The Four Coin Mystery, watch carefully. Cover up the coins, like so, show your first coin; watch the first coin, first coin goes quick, do not blink, goes really quick. Second coin, second coin goes even faster, the last coin even faster. Now, here is the explanation, this is a fast trick. You want to give your member, audiences enough time to think it over, so you do need to practice this one a lot.

You need for coins, four identical coins, today I am using half dollars, you need four cards, four playing cards, I put a little bend in them like this. So, they can stand up over the coins. So, you do not not like a see-saw, now I am going to put down one card on top of the first coin, which is the one on your right hand in front of you, the closest one to your audience. Bring that slide my hand down and cover up the second coin. When I come over here to cover up the third coin, I am actually -- I am going to show you without the cards, I am actually sliding my hand over the coin and sliding it up to this coin right here.

So, I am actually sliding it with my fingers and all of it in the same time, I am going to leave a card in its place. So, there is nothing there now and all of this is undercover of the cards, you see. So, now we have two coins up here, to show the first coin I am actually what I am doing, I am picking up the cards and at the same time I am picking up that second coin, that second coin, but you do not show anybody that of course, you do not show them that, it is all under cover. Tell them the first coin goes first, watch carefully, do not blink. At the same time, you are going to drop the coin back down and pickup this coin so now I have it underneath the card.

I transfer the card and coin to my left hand, let s pickup this one here. A natural move for me, do it again, well after I show the card -- the coin, there is a coin, drop it, pick it up at the same time. Again, transfer it over to my left hand, this time you do not show the coin because they assume there is one there. You are going to pick it, drop it and pick up the card and you are done. Alright, here is the same trick at different angle, that is what I see, this is what I see. I cover up the coin with the card, slide my hand down, cover up the second coin with the card, then I am sliding my hand over the third coin, grabbing it with my fingers and sliding it up and leaving one card in its place that to reveal there is nothing there.

Then hiding it, now, we have two coins underneath the card, pick up these two cards and that coin together, this is what I see, telling them watch carefully to the first coin, it goes quickly. Drop down the first coin and pick up the second coin. At the same time you are going to now you are going to pick up this card showing this coin, cover back up, put down your left hand, picking up the card with the coins. Now, you are going to do same thing, but this time you do not reveal that there is a coin there, because there is none. So, you are going to put this down and at the same time, you are going to pick up the card showing that you did something pretty darn weird.

That is the Four Coin Mystery, thank you. Hope you enjoyed the secrets and I will see you out there in the World of Magic and just remember if you can imagine it, it can happen.
