Hi, I am Peggy Halliday; I am the Program Director for Early Intervention and Outreach at the Virginia Institute of Autism in Charlottesville, Virginia. Today I am going to talk about characteristics of autism spectrum disorders. A little bit about autism's early signs and symptoms and what to do after your child is diagnosed with autism. But first let me tell you a little bit about myself, I am a board certified associate behavior analyst and I have worked in autism education for the past 10 years. At the Virginia Institute of Autism, I develop and supervise programs for young children with autism spectrum disorder and I have presented at state and national conferences. The Virginia institute of Autism is a non-profit organization which provides a day school for students with autism and outreach services including home programing. As well as other resources for parents, educators and healthcare professionals. Now, let us talk about autism.
