Host: What is the difference between autism and PDD-NOS?

Peggy Halliday: To have a diagnosis of autism you have to have six impairments as we have talked about, two in social interactions, one each in communication and behavior. If you have similar symptoms of autism but you do not have the criteria, you do not reach the number of deficits that would have to have to be diagnosed with classic autism you will usually be given a diagnosis of PDD-NOS.
