Host: Are there any physical symptoms or markers in Autism?
Peggy Halliday: There is nothing very specific in terms of physical actual symptoms like you would have in an illness. There are sensory issues that often happen, sensitivity, either oversensitivity or under-sensitivity to sensory input like noise and lights and touch and taste and there can be delays in fine motor skills like riding and all of the delicate movements that you would have with fine motor skills or growth motor skills, the larger motor skills like walking. These things can be delayed, but there are a lot of other reasons that you get these kinds of delays besides autism. So, there are no physical markers that are specific just to autism.
