Host: What are the most effective treatments for autism?

Peggy Halliday: The best treatments for autism are research based treatments which has been shown to be effective with children with autism. The primary research based intervention is Intensive Behavioral Intervention. This is an intervention which uses structured teaching to apply the principles of behavior to teach children with autism. When these principles used in real world or real life settings, the treatment is known as Applied Behavior Analysis.
