Host: What is FERPA?

Brad Barnett: FERPA is basically, the privacy act. Colleges have certain information that they have to protect on your behalf and there is some information that they can release. If you want the exact details of what can be released, what has to be protected, then you typically want to talk to the registrar s office at your university, as they are usually they keeper of FEPRA. But this is an important thing to understand, especially, if you are a new student and your parents want information from the college about you, some of it, we just can t release without your consent.
